Massage serves as a tool to enhance well-being. Massage therapists are not qualified to diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment or perform spinal/skeletal manipulations. Any information shared by the therapist in the course of treatment should not be constructed as such. Massage is not a substitute for medical treatment.
Almost everyone can benefit from massage and bodywork. However, there are some contraindications to massage and you should seek input from your physician to see if massage is indicated. If you have any of the following: Fever, Inflammation, High blood pressure, active infection, hernia, varicose veins, skin problems or cancer, please get a note from your doctor before scheduling a massage with us. Some contraindications are relative, meaning your doctor will let us know what is permissible. With this in mind, a complete client intake will include current medical information of the client.
Client lists and contact information including emails are completely confidential. Additionally, personal health information is protected and private by HIPPA law. Information is not shared with third parties unless directed by you as necessary (i.e. sharing information with your insurance carrier or physician).
When appearing for your appointment, plan on arriving a few minutes early. You will be shown into the massage studio, go over your health history and goals for the massage session, and the therapist will then leave the room to allow you to undress and get onto the table. Clients are encouraged to undress to their level of comfort. When a client undresses completely he/she will be conservatively draped throughout their session, exposing only the area of the body being worked on. For the healthiest and most enjoyable massage experience, please shower as close to the time of your appointment as possible.
If you are concerned about any part of your body being worked on please inform your therapist before your session begins.
It would be best to refrain from eating 2 hours prior to your massage session to receive the full benefit of your session. Additionally, you must not consume alcohol prior to receiving a massage. Any client appearing to be intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol or other substances will be refused a massage.
